Basic Arabic for Foundational Learners

To introduce Arabic language fundamentals—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—using visual, auditory, and tactile strategies that support students with diverse learning needs. The course builds confidence through structured repetition, phonics-based instruction, and real-life communication.


This course uses a step-by-step, phonics-first approach to teach Arabic. Students will learn the Arabic alphabet, basic vocabulary, and simple sentence structures through interactive activities, storytelling, and visual aids. The focus is on Modern Standard Arabic (الفصحى) to ensure broad comprehension and application.


1. Arabic Alphabet & Sounds Recognition and pronunciation of letters (حروف), tracing, joining letters
2. Phonemic Awareness Sound blending, syllables, rhyming, short vowels (حركات)
3. Vocabulary Building Everyday words (family, school, food, colors), picture-word association
4. Reading Practice Two- and three-letter words, simple sentences, visual reading aids
5. Writing Skills Letter formation, copying words, sentence completion
6. Listening & Speaking Greetings, daily phrases, role-play, storytelling
7. Grammar Basics Gender (مذكر/مؤنث), singular/plural, simple verbs (ذهب، أكل), question words
8. Functional Arabic Asking for help, describing objects, expressing needs and feelings
