To develop essential mathematical skills in students with learning disabilities through structured, hands-on, and visual learning strategies that emphasize understanding over memorization.
This course is tailored for students who need additional support in grasping basic mathematical concepts. It emphasizes concrete-to-abstract learning, repetition, and real-life application. Students will engage with numbers, shapes, and measurements through manipulatives, visual aids, and interactive activities that promote retention and confidence.
1. Number Sense | Counting, number recognition (1–100), comparing numbers, odd/even |
2. Place Value | Units, tens, hundreds using base-10 blocks and visuals |
3. Basic Operations | Addition and subtraction with objects and number lines |
4. Multiplication & Division (Intro) | Repeated addition, grouping, skip counting |
5. Time & Calendar | Reading clocks, days of the week, months, sequencing events |
6. Money Skills | Identifying coins/notes, counting money, making change |
7. Measurement | Length, weight, volume using real-life tools (ruler, scale, cups) |
8. Shapes & Patterns | 2D/3D shapes, sorting, pattern recognition |
9. Data & Graphs | Tally marks, pictographs, interpreting simple charts |
