Abacus Foundation Course

The Abacus Program is a structured mental arithmetic course designed to develop strong numerical skills, concentration, and confidence in children. Through progressive levels, students learn to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using both the physical abacus and mental visualization techniques. The program enhances speed, accuracy, memory, and logical thinking while making mathematics engaging and enjoyable through hands-on practice, drills, and interactive activities.

🧮 Abacus Course Content (Beginner to Advanced)

Level 1: Introduction to Abacus (Foundation)

Objectives: Number sense, finger movement, basic calculations

  • History and parts of the abacus

  • Place value (ones, tens, hundreds)

  • Number representation (0–9999)

  • Finger techniques (thumb & index usage)

  • Counting using abacus

  • Simple addition (1–2 digit, without carry)

  • Simple subtraction (1–2 digit, without borrowing)

  • Oral counting & speed drills


Level 2: Basic Operations

Objectives: Accuracy, confidence, mental visualization begins

  • Addition with carry (2–3 digits)

  • Subtraction with borrowing (2–3 digits)

  • Mixed addition & subtraction

  • Number dictation

  • Introduction to mental abacus (visualization)

  • Speed writing & flash card practice


Level 3: Intermediate Calculations

Objectives: Speed enhancement & stronger mental math

  • 3–4 digit addition & subtraction

  • Chain calculations

  • Introduction to multiplication (single digit)

  • Tables (2–9) using abacus

  • Mental abacus practice (without physical abacus)

  • Timed worksheets


Level 4: Advanced Abacus

Objectives: High-speed mental calculation

  • Multiplication (2-digit × 1-digit)

  • Division (single digit divisor)

  • Mixed operations

  • Large number dictation

  • Mental abacus with speed drills

  • Accuracy & speed tests


Level 5: Master Level / Mental Math

Objectives: Complete mental visualization & competition readiness

  • Multiplication (2-digit × 2-digit)

  • Division (2-digit divisor)

  • Square & cube basics (optional)

  • Word problems

  • Mental math without abacus

  • Mock competitions & assessments
